Aishwarya plays Nandini, the Queen of Pazhuvoor in the magnum opus

It looks like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's look in Mani Ratnam's upcoming magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan: I, has won the hearts of many, including that of her husband, Abhishek Bachchan. Aishwarya plays Nandini, the Queen of Pazhuvoor in the film, and the actress recently released her character poster, along with the caption, "Vengeance has a beautiful face! Meet Nandini, the Queen of Pazhuvoor! PS1 releasing in theatres on 30th September in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada (sic)." Soon, husband, Abhishek, who seemed to have been smitten by look it, dropped a heart emoticon.
Ponniyin Selvan: I marks Aishwarya's fourth collaboration with Mani Ratnam. The duo had earlier teamed up for Iruvar, Guru and Raavanan. Ponniyin Selvan has an ensemble cast comprising Vikram, Karthi, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sarathkumar and Sobhita Dhulipala. In the meantime, the makers revealed the character poster of Trisha as Kundavai, Vikram as Aditya Karikalan and Karthi as Vanthiyathevan.
The film is co-produced by Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, and is the first in the two-part series, which is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's epic novel Ponniyin Selvan. The plot revolves around the early life of prince Arulmozhi Varman who went on to be known as Raja Raja Cholan. Music for the film is AR Rahman. Ravi Varman has handled cinematography. While Sreekar Prasad is in charge of the editing, Thota Tharani will be handling the art design and writer Jeyamohan has penned the dialogues. The film is said to be one of the most expensive ones made in the country.
In the meantime, the makers have revealed that the teaser for the film will be out tomorrow. The Hindi teaser will be released by Amitabh Bachchan. The film is slated to release on September 30 worldwide in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
