On the occasion of his birthday, Abhishek A. Bachchan announced his forthcoming film, titled Ghoomer. With this film, the actor reunites with R. Balki. As per the latest reports, Saiyami Kher plays the film's lead in the cricket-themed film. While several rumours about this film have circulated for some time, Bombay Times has learned from reliable sources that Abhishek Bachchan would portray Saiyami Kher's coach in the film.

Kher will be playing the role of a cricketer in the film. Surprisingly, both Bachchan and Kher are sports fans, not just as spectators, but as active participants. The Mirzya actor has represented Maharashtra in cricket at the school level. She was even considered for the national squad, but she chose to compete in the badminton state championships instead.

Bachchan, like his renowned father, Amitabh Bachchan, is an avid football lover and also enjoys cricket. AB Junior has also been a hands-on motivator and player for ASFC (All Stars Football Club). His undying devotion to his Kabaddi team is well-known.

As per the reports in the daily, Shabana Azmi, who was recently spotted at Balki's Mumbai office, also has a key role in the film. The shoot has begun at a remote location in Maharashtra, after being postponed due to COVID protocols. The actors, on the other hand, remained silent about the project.

Bollywood continues to be flooded with cricket-themed films. Following Kabir Khan's 83, which starred Ranveer Singh, this year's releases include Shahid Kapoor's Jersey, Anushka Sharma's Chakda Xpress, which is based on the life of former Indian women's cricket captain Jhulan Goswami, and Taapsee Pannu's Shabaash Mithu, based on current women's cricket captain Mithali Raj.

Interestingly, Bachchan and Kher earlier shared screen space in Amazon Prime Video's Breathe: Into The Shadows. They are also reuniting for the upcoming season.
