Aashram, the Bobby Deol-led crime drama series, is awaiting the release of its fourth season. It was earlier reported that Season 4 will drop in December 2024; however, the premiere has been delayed indefinitely. Interestingly, Aashram has been streaming on MX Player, and now with the OTT platform merging with Prime Video, the series will stream on the streaming giant too. Prakash Jha manages the production through his company, Prakash Jha Productions. In addition to Bobby Deol, the series features Darshan Kumar, Aaditi Pohankar, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Tushar Pandey, Anupriya Goenka, Adhyayan Suman, Vikram Kochhar, Esha Gupta, Tridha Choudhury, Sachin Shroff, Anurita Jha, Parinitaa Seth, Jahangir Khan, Kanupriya Gupta, Preeti Sood, Navdeep Tomar, and Ayaan Aditya in important roles. Prime Video offers Aashram for free viewing. Season two of the show premiered on November 11, 2020, and season three on June 20, 2022.

Plot and characters of Aashram

Bobby Deol portrays Baba Nirala as a godman, inspiring unwavering confidence and obedience in his followers, primarily from lower socioeconomic classes. The truth is that he is a scam artist whose goal is to keep his followers beholden to his ashram and his fortune. In the upcoming State Legislative Assembly Elections, Baba Nirala's followership becomes even more valuable to politicians Hukum Singh (Sachin Shroff) and incumbent CM Sundar Lal (Anil Rastogi), who plan to use him as a vote bank. This situation is further complicated when Tinka Singh (Adhyayan Suman), a popular singer, decides to tour with Baba Nirala to promote her new song.

In the meantime, Darshan Kumar's character, SI Ujagar Singh, is a disinterested police officer who blindly obeys his superiors' orders. Anupriya Goenka's character, Dr. Natasha, who is investigating the discovery of a skeleton on the property of an industrial group with strong ties to Sundar Lal, catches his attention. Her persistent nagging and the obstinacy of a freelance journalist named Akhivendra Rathi (Rajeev Siddhartha), better known as Akki, motivate him and his senior constable assistant, Sadhu Sharma (Vikram Kocchar), to investigate the matter.

Aashram success and fan expectations for Season 4

After three seasons, Prakash Jha's directing endeavour has garnered a devoted following that eagerly awaits the release of new episodes. The announcement of another season clearly thrilled fans. Mid-Day has learnt from an insider that the sneak peeks of the new material that have been making the rounds online are not from season four.

The filmed content is actually a part of season three. According to the source, they originally shot the 15-episode series, but the merger between OTT platforms MX Player and Prime Video delayed the release of the 10 episodes available in the third season. The makers are preparing the last five episodes, known as Aashram 3.5, and will stream them this year after an official announcement on the combined platforms' channels.

Upcoming Aashram 3.5 episodes and Baba Nirala’s past

In the upcoming episodes, Monty Singh (Deol)'s Baba Nirala will face the demons from his past. Viewers will get a sneak peek at the events from his past that have moulded him into the person he is today and will shape his choices going forward. It will unveil the true intentions of Sonia (Esha Gupta) and Pammi (Aaditi Pohankar), as well as her desire for revenge. The conclusion of Season Three reveals that Baba Nirala's manipulative behaviour continues even after his imprisonment.

Jha knows that Prime Video is eager to continue the franchise, even though he is unsure of when additional episodes will release. The next five episodes will reveal the existence of Aashram. Season four continues to be a topic of discussion, with the filmmaker informing the crew that while he will mentor it, someone else needs to direct it. However, they have prepared a new script for it. However, the platform's decision will ultimately determine the outcome. How things turn out is still up in the air.
