Director Shafi’s upcoming release Aanandham Paramaanandham promises to deliver some healthy does of laughs for those in the mood for some old-school comedy. The movie, which is scripted by Pullipulikalum Aattinkuttyum and Puthiya Mugham writer M Sindhuraj, is set to hit theatres in Kerala during the Christmas season.

Starring Sharafudheen and Indrans in lead roles, the movie has them playing a son-in-law and father-in-law, respectively, who are often at loggerheads. Liquor seems to be a major reason for their quarrels in the film, which also has Baiju Santosh, Anagha and Aju Varghese in supporting roles.

The movie’s trailer, which was released a few days ago, presents him as a model man whose life shouldn’t be emulated by anyone – probably because of his alcoholic tendencies. Girish PP (Sharafudheen) falls in love with his daughter and his efforts to woo her forms a major portion of the plot.

Aanandham Paramaanandham marks Indrans’ second successive release this month, after his survival thriller Vaamanan that released on December 16. The movie has him essaying the role of a home-stay manager who has to fight for his and his family’s survival after a mysterious presence threatens their lives.

The movie is set to hit theatres on December 23, and will clash with Biju Menon and Guru Somasundaram’s Nalaam Mura, Antony Varghese and Sona Olickkal’s campus romance Oh Meri Laila. Prithviraj Sukumaran’s gangster drama Kaapa is also set to release in theatres on December 22.

Meanwhile, director Shafi and Sharafudheen had previously collaborated for his previous directorial Children’s Park. Shaan Rahman has composed the music for Aanandham Paramaanandham, which has Manoj Pillai as its cinematographer and V Sajan as its editor.
