Aanand L. Rai is reportedly planning to start filming Tere Ishk Mein in October this year. The filmmaker has been mum about the female lead, but rumours have circulated that she could be Kriti Sanon or Triptii Dimri. Following his work with Rai on Atrangi Re, this is Dhanush's third outing with him. Fascinatingly, the star garnered tremendous praise for his debut in Bollywood with Raanjhanaa back in 2013.

Aanand L Rai's return to Raanjhanaa sensibilities with Tere Ishk Mein

In an interview with News18, Rai discussed Tere Ishk Mein and his intentions to return to Raanjhanaa's sensibilities. The filmmaker was interested in seeing how someone like himself would deal with tragedy following Tanu Weds Manu. When writer Himanshu Sharma introduced him to the world of Raanjhanaa, he was eager to immerse himself in a story that revolved around love and tragedy.

Tanu Weds Manu, in Rai's middle-class world, was all about having fun, and there was progress with Raanjhanaa. He is eager to observe his development as a tragedy writer 12 years later, at the age of 53, because now it's a new narrative. Reviewers and spectators alike will have to judge if it's more mature or not. Rai can't wait to return to that realm and investigate relationships from a new angle.

According to the filmmaker, the rage, aggression, and passionate love present in Raanjhanaa are also evident in Tere Ishk Mein. This is a reference to the fact that he believes Raanjhanaa and Tere Ishk Mein are from the same universe.

Dhanush's evolution and unique approach to similar roles

When asked if Dhanush was afraid of repeating himself after reading the script, Rai responded that after many years of working together, he knows the actor has evolved. Even as a writer, director, and actor, he has improved greatly from his stellar acting days, and he has greater self-confidence. In the event that he were to take on a comparable story, his method would be distinct.

Rai added that this is an exceptional actor's self-assurance. Dhanush's approach would be unique even when presented with an identical script. As a filmmaker, he is worried that the actor's performance may seem repetitive. He is confident that he is not being redundant.

Rai is aware of the difficulties that lie ahead. This time, Gen Z will be his audience, and he will tell them a love story that will touch their hearts. Finishing off Tere Ishk Mein with a new tale, approach, and storytelling style is something he is working on for himself.
