Although Junaid Khan, son of Aamir Khan, had his film debut in 2024 with the Netflix movie Maharaj, he is soon to make his big-screen debut with Loveyapa, which co-stars Khushi Kapoor. During the recent trailer launch of the upcoming film, Aamir Khan gave his son a critical evaluation of his performance in his debut flick, admitting that it was far from perfect and lacking in refinement in key areas. The performance by Junaid was good, but Aamir thought it was on par with his 1988 debut film, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, and he was pleased with it.

Aamir Khan's critical evaluation of Junaid Khan's performance

Aamir said during the trailer unveiling that Junaid's first film, Maharaj, really impressed him, and he liked his son's work as well. But if he places his hand on his heart and speaks honestly, the superstar feels that the level of Junaid's work in his first film and his work in his first film was more or less the same.

Aamir went on to say that Junaid was fantastic in Maharaj, praising several passages and highlighting the outstanding climax in particular. But there were other sections that, in his opinion, appeared too raw.

Aamir Khan's hopes for Junaid Khan's growth

The superstar also expressed his opinion that Junaid performed several scenes, including the climax, exceptionally well. But in some places, Aamir felt that his son could have done a better job in certain scenes. There were moments when the newcomer's performance felt a bit raw. Therefore, he was unable to claim that his performance was flawless. He is saying this as a father, too. It was quite similar—Aamir felt that the level of work he did in his first film, he has done more or less the same. So hopefully, as Junaid moves forward, he'll learn and get better.

Siddharth P. Malhotra directed Maharaj, starring Shalini Pandey, Sharvari, and Jaideep Ahlawat alongside Junaid. It debuted on Netflix in June of 2024. On the other hand, theaters will release Junaid's next film, Loveyapa, on February 7, 2025.
