Recently when it was announced that Maharashtra government has given permission for cinema halls to reopen from 22nd October, a flood of release dates was unleashed on social media. All the movies which had been on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic and lockdowns, finally got a chance to pick which day they will premiere on the big screen. But netizens were surprised when Aamir Khan pushed the release date of his much awaited comedy drama Laal Singh Chaddha to Valentine’s Day 2022 instead of this Christmas, which is usually his favorite slot.

Well, according to a report shared by Bollywood Hungama, Mr Perfectionist ‘gracefully bowed out’ and made way for other films which were on hold since a long time. A source revealed, “Aamir Khan and his co-producers Viacom 18 have voluntarily taken their film to February 2022. The Christmas week of 2021 (which is the week when Aamir traditionally releases his films) already has Kabir Khan’s ’83 (December 24), the Shahid Kapoor sports film Jersey (December 31) and Rohit Shetty’s Ranveer Singh starrer Cirkus (December 31) lined up for release.”

The report further quoted filmmaker Luv Ranjan, who feels that a protocol needs to be followed now that theatres are reopening once again. He shared that the morally correct thing to do is to give the filmmakers, who patiently waited in line, the first right. Ranjan explained, “One can’t jump the queue. Filmmakers like Rohit Shetty and Kabir Khan have waited for over a year for a theatrical release. They will come first. The others will have to wait.”

Well, that sounds fair.
