Aamir Khan is regarded as the perfectionist of Bollywood. The actor, who was last seen in Laal Singh Chaddha, recently opened up about his decision to quit the Hindi film industry. It was the COVID-19-induced lockdown that made Aamir question his priorities. The Bollywood actor thought of leaving the industry to spend more time with his family members. However, it was his own family that made him rethink his decision. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Aamir recalled what made him consider leaving the film industry.

Speaking with THR India, Aamir Khan said he was just sitting at home all alone during COVID-19 lockdown. That's when the actor realised he had not spent enough time with his family. "And when I thought probably, Laal Singh Chaddha will be my last film because I want to be with my family and I really want to make up for lost times," said Aamir.

The Laal Singh Chaddha actor added that he didn't share his decision to quit Bollywood in the public domain. Khan felt it was a big statement to make. "But of course, I shared with my family that I want to now stop doing films and just be with my kids, my mum and siblings, people who I love," he added.

Aamir's family, however, wasn't excited about the actor's decision. "About 6 to 8 months of that, people who I loved kind of starting feeling claustrophobic," revealed Aamir. It was later that Khan's children, Junaid and Ira, helped him find a middle ground and strike a balance on personal and work front.

And since the last three years, Aamir said he is trying to strike a balance. "I try to work till 6 and after that, I am with my family. In fact, I have never done so much work. I have more or less stopped working after 6," shared Khan.
