AR Rahman, the celebrated musician made a comeback to Malayalam cinema after a long gap of over three decades, with Aadujeevitham. The Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer, directed by Blessy and based on Benyamin’s best-selling novel, emerged as a major critical and commercial success. AR Rahman’s tunes for the film, especially the ‘Periyone’ song emerged as one of the most loved tracks of recent times. Now, the veteran musician has won big at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards 2024, for his Aadujeevitham music score.
The Academy Award-winning musician recently took to his official social media handles and dropped a special video, announcing Aadujeevitham’s big win at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards 2024. “It’s an incredible honour to receive this award for Best Score for a foreign language film, The Goat Life. This project was a labour of love, and I share this moment with my amazing team of musicians and technicians, the director Blessy, and everyone who believed the vision we brought to life,” said AR Rahman in the video.
Director Blessy received the big honour on the behalf of AR Rahman, at the gala event held at Los Angeles, USA, recently. The senior filmmaker, who is on a high with the big win of Aadujeevitham at the event, stated that the musician has woven magic with both the songs and the background score in the film, in his recent interaction with The Hindu. The film fanatics and industry members are now hopeful that the Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer will join the Oscars race this year, after winning at the HMMA 2024.
Prithviraj Sukumaran played Najeeb, an immigrant labourer who gets stranded in the deserts of Saudi Arabia in Aadujeevitham, which marked his first collaboration with director Blessy. The movie, which emerged as the biggest solo box office grosser in the actor’s career, is currently available for streaming on Netflix in five languages, including the original Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. Amala Paul played the female lead in the film, which features KR Gokul, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Shobha Mohan, Robin Das, and others in supporting roles.
