Aadujeevitham, the ambitious project of senior filmmaker Blessy, is gearing up for its massive global release. Prithviraj Sukumaran essays the central character Najeeb Muhammed in the film. When you see the actor in the Aadujeevitham trailer and other promotional videos, you get the feeling that he has delivered a fine performance in the film. However, in a recent chat with the media, director Blessy revealed that he had approached Suriya and Vikram first for the project.
During a recently held Aadujeevitham press meet event, director Blessy recalled his journey with the project. The filmmaker, who began writing the film in the late 2000s, revealed that he had approached popular Tamil stars Vikram and Suriya for the project. Blessy was originally planning to make the film a Malayalam-Tamil bilingual. The Kanguva actor said no to the film even though he loved the subject because of the massive physical transformation that it demanded.
Vikram, on the other hand, almost came on board for the survival drama. The Thangalaan actor even spoke about the Blessy directorial in many of his interviews at that time. However, eventually, Chiyaan Vikram had to back out of the project due to his other commitments. Later, the senior filmmaker narrated the story to Prithviraj Sukumaran during a flight in 2009, and the actor-director eventually came on board for the project.

The movie, which is based on Benyamin’s best-seller novel of the same name, is based on the real-life story of Najeeb Muhammed, a simple man from Haripad, Kerala, who was forced into slavery as a goatherd on a secluded farm in a Saudi Arabian desert. Prithviraj Sukumaran, who plays the role of Najeeb in the film, initially gained weight to portray the happy phase in his character’s life. Later, he shed over 30 kilos for his second look in the film.
