On the grand audio launch of director Blessy and actor Prithviraj Sukumaran’s most-anticipated film, Aadujeevitham or The Goat Life, music composer A R Rahman spoke about how he composed the soul-stirring songs for the survival drama.
During the event, the music composer was asked to share his insights on why he waited for lyricist Rafeeq Ahammed to pen the lyrics before composing the music.
“So for one of the songs, Blessy asked me to compose the song, and I said send me the lyrics. And Rafeeq sent some beautiful lyrics and later I finished the song. But I felt like I needed something more, so we came up with the ‘Periyone’ song and that's how it happened,” Rahman recalled.
Interestingly, the first two lines of this song were penned by AR Rahman, and not Rafeeq Ahammed.

Lyricist Rafeeq, on the other hand, revealed the process of penning the songs for the survival drama. “Blessy sir as we all know is a perfectionist. So, just like how Najeeb was troubled in the film, I too was troubled a lot by Blessy sir (laughs). Even during COVID, as we couldn't meet in person and discuss the songs, we still managed to extract his ideas and create the songs that he wanted,” Rafeeq revealed.
Rafeeq also added that it was a challenge to pen lyrics for Rahman’s musical composition. “Penning lyrics as per Rahman’s style is not an easy task. We had to capture two different emotions in the film–one of the loneliness and hopelessness of Najeeb’s life in the deserts and the other of the hope in his life. I haven't watched the film yet, but I am sure when the film reaches the audiences, it will definitely be the next big thing.”
