"Happy Mukundan Unni day," posts director Abhinav Sunder Nayak on the first anniversary of the Vineeth Sreenivasan-starrer's release

Coinciding with the first anniversary of his directorial debut, Mukundan Unni Associates (MUA), Malayalam director Abhinav Sunder Nayak has announced his next film. The project is set to be bankrolled by popular producer Ashiq Usman and is currently in the scripting stage. Nayak took to social media to share the news, promising to reveal more details in the coming days.

In a note that he shared on X, Abhinav thanked everyone for the success of Mukundan Unni Associates as it completed a year of its release. Without sharing much detail about his upcoming project’s cast and crew, he announced that he will be collaborating with producer Ashiq Usman on his next project. Abhinav concluded the post by wishing everyone a “Happy Mukundan Unni day!”
Speaking about producer Ashiq Usmaan, Abhinav wrote that he is excited to be collaborating with the “producer par excellence” and is thrilled to collaborate with him. He stated that the project is still in the scripting stage but promised to reveal more details soon.

Abhinav, an editor-turned-filmmaker who worked as a former assistant to Vineeth Sreenivasan, has an impressive background. He has edited films like Anandam, Godha, Uriyadi, and Kurangu Bommai. Mukundan Unni Associates was his directorial debut, which he had also co-written and co-edited. The film received significant attention for its bold portrayal of the protagonist, a cunning advocate played by Vineeth Sreenivasan. Abhinav has also confirmed that a sequel to 'MUA' is in the works.
Ashiq Usman’s projects
Meanwhile, producer Ashiq Usman has an interesting lineup of films. Currently, he is producing Biju Menon's Thundu, directed by debutant Riyas Shereef. Other notable projects under his production banner include Fahadh Faasil's 'Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira' with Althaf Salim, Jayasurya's next film directed by Thallumaala actor Austin Dan, and a film starring Asif Ali and Soubin Shahir that is being helmed by debutant director Nahas Nazar.
