Tha Se Gnanavel's Jai Bhim, which has Suriya playing the lead, has opened to positive reviews from critics and audience alike. The performances of actors, portrayal of hard-hitting reality and a few dialogues have been lauded by one and all since the time the movie started premiering on Amazon Prime Video. However, a scene from the movie has not gone done well with a section of Hindi audience if we are to go by the Twitter reactions.

(Spoiler alert) A crucial sequence has Prakash Raj, who heads an enquiry commission, questioning a pawn shop owner. The latter, who hails from North India, starts speaking in Hindi, and Prakash's character slaps him. He questions back, 'Why are you hitting me?', to which Prakash's character replies, 'Speak in Tamil'. This has created a furore among a few Hindi speaking viewers and they took to Twitter to express their angst and disappointment.

The Telugu version of the movie, too, had the same dialogue, except for the fact that Telugu has replaced Tamil in the line he speaks. However, in the Hindi version, 'Speak in Tamil' has been replaced by 'Now tell the truth'. Movie buffs are wondering why the makers decided to come up with different dialogues for Tamil and Hindi versions."

A few went on to allege that Tamil filmmakers are unapologetic when it comes to displaying their hatred for Hindi, some of them pointed out that the dialogue spoken by Prakash Raj is to be understood in the story's context and that the makers did not purposefully instigate any hate in the film. Apparently, the pawn shop owner starts speaking in Hindi despite knowing Tamil and that is why Prakash's character asks him to speak in Tamil and not to act smart.
