Santhanam's upcoming film, 80s Buildup is gearing up to hit screens on November 24. The film is helmed by S Kalyaan of Gulaebaghavali and Jackpot fame. The trailer of the comic caper was released a week ahead of the release.

Trailer of 80s Buildup
Santhanam plays a huge Kamal Haasan fan in the film. Going by the trailer, 80s Buildup seems to revolve around the death of Kathir's (Santhanam) grandfather. The film also has elements of fantasy with Lord Yama (the god of death) and his assistant Chitragupta making an attendance at Kathir's house and his grandfather striking a deal with the duo. Interestingly, Kathi's grandfather plays a Rajinikanth fan.

It is to be noted that the film is set in the '80s and Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, who are close friends in real life, played arch enemies on screen. They both were the top actors of the era, with each earning their own respective fan base.

Meanwhile, Santhanam finds his 'dream girl' ahead of the funeral. The trailer also gives a glimpse of Manjakili (Anandraj), who is Kathir's aunt. At the same time, a villain has his eyes on the parambarai kaththi, which would make him the richest man in town. The plot revolves around the many incidents that happen at the funeral.

Cast and crew
The film has an ensemble cast comprising Radhika Preethi, Motta Rajendran, Mansoor Ali Khan, Redin Kingsley, Anandraj, Munishkanth, KS Ravikumar and Tiger Thangadurai.

While Ghibran has composed the music, Jacob Rathinaraj has handled the cinematography. MS Bharathi and AR Mohan have handled editing and art direction respectively. Action choreography is by Ravi and Hari Dinesh.

80s Buildup is bankrolled by KE Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green and the digital rights have been bagged by Amazon Prime Video. The film will lock horns with Chiyaan Vikram's long-delayed film Dhruva Natchathiram, helmed by Gautham Menon.
