Santhanam's upcoming comedy caper, 80s Buildup is gearing up to hit screens on November 24. The film is helmed by S Kalyaan of Gulaebaghavali and Jackpot fame. Here's all you need to know about the film.
A quirky plot
As the title suggests, 80s Buildup is set in the 80s. Santhanam plays an ardent Kamal Haasan fan. The plot revolves around the many funny incidents that take place after his grandfather (played by Sundarrajan)passes away, who incidentally happens to be a Rajinikanth fan. It is to be noted that both Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth were at the top of their game in the 90s.

An impressive trailer
Going by the trailer, the entire plot is set around the grandfather's death, which happens on the day of a Kamal Haasan film release. The trailer has some elements of fantasy as it features Lord Yama (the god of death) and his assistant Chitragupta making an attendance at Kathir's house and Kathir's grandfather striking a deal with the duo. During the last rites, Kathir also meets his dream girl and discovers an affair in the family.

An ensemble star cast
80s Buildup has an ensemble cast comprising Radhika Preethi, Motta Rajendran, Mansoor Ali Khan, Redin Kingsley, Anandraj, Munishkanth, KS Ravikumar and Tiger Thangadurai.
Technical crew
Ghibran has scored the music and Jacob Rathinaraj has handled the cinematography. MS Bharathi and AR Mohan have handled editing and art direction respectively. Action choreography is by Ravi and Hari Dinesh.
A November release
80s Buildup is bankrolled by KE Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green and the digital rights have been acquired by Amazon Prime Video. The film will lock horns with Chiyaan Vikram's long-delayed film Dhruva Natchathiram, helmed by Gautham Menon.
80s Buildup will mark Santhanam's third release of the year. While DD Returns opened to good reviews, his next venture Kick met with a lukewarm response at the box office.
