The trailer of 800, a biopic on ace Sri Lankan cricketer Muthiah Muralidaran is out. The film, which stars Madhurr Mittal essaying the role of the bowling legend, is directed by MS Sripathy.

Summary of the trailer
The trailer, which is almost 3 minutes and 6 seconds long, provides a sneak peek of the life of Muttiah Muralidharan, and his arduous journey to become one of the most celebrated bowlers in the game of cricket. The trailer also shows the hurdles faced by the Hill Country Tamil community in Kandy, Sri Lanka and how he rose over the discrimination to become a legend.

The video also drops a sneak peek of a congenital problem due to which he could not straighten his arm, and his bowling action was labelled as 'chucking'. We also get to see glimpses of the civil war in the country where many Tamil civilians were killed in large numbers during the conflict between the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE.

The star cast also includes Nassar and Mahima Nambiar. Music for 800 is by Ghibran and the film is bankrolled by Movie Train Motion Pictures

Vijay Sethupathi controversy
The first choice to play the ace cricketer was Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi and the first-look poster from the film had VSP bearing a striking resemblance to the ace cricketer. However, the actor was forced to withdraw from the film, after many people from different political outfits and certain sections from the public urged him to not do the film as they branded Muralidharan as someone 'who betrayed Tamils' as he was said to support the killing of Tamils. Hashtags like #ShameonVijaySethupathi and #BoycottVijaySethupathi did the rounds,

The spinning legend had then requested the actor to not put his acting career on line for him. Vijay Sethupathi, who responded to the cricketer's tweet with, "Nanri, Vanakkam '' indicating that he was walking out of the project.
