The 2016 released Tamil film Iru Mugan has completed eight years. The film, headlined by actor Vikram, is a science fiction action drama directed by Anand Shankar and is available for streaming on ZEE5 and alternatively on OTTplay Premium.

Iru Mugan is directed by Anand Shankar and stars Vikram in the lead role. The actor plays dual roles in the film, which also stars actors Nayanthara, Nithya Menen, Nassar, Thambi Ramaiah, and Karunakaran in pivotal roles. Iru Mugan is about a former RAW agent who is out there to track and capture a scientist who has created a hazardous drug that can boost adrenaline levels. Vikram plays both the protagonist and antagonist in the film. Produced by Shibu Thameens, Iru Mugan received mixed to positive reviews upon its release. The technical crew consists of Harris Jayaraj and RD Rajasekhar cranking the camera. Bhuvan Srinivasan is the editor.

The film was majorly set and shot in Malaysia with filming also taking place in Chennai, Bangkok, Ladakh, and Kashmir.

Vikram was last seen in period action drama Thangalaan which is written and directed by Pa Ranjith. The film recently had a theatrical release in the northern belt and received a positive response. Thangalaan is set during the colonial period and traces the oppression a group of tribals had to endure while they were employed by Britishers to trace the gold in KGF.

Actors Daniel Caltagirone, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, and others are also part of the film. The film’s post-theatrical rights are bagged by Netflix. An OTT release date is yet to be announced. It has already stormed at the box office and joined the Rs 100-crore club.
