777 Charlie OTT release date confirmed: THIS is when you can watch Dharma bond with Charlie

When Kannada actor-filmmaker Rakshit Shetty was gearing up for his first release since 2019’s Avane Srimannarayana, he went on a promotion overdrive, given that the subject had universal appeal. His 777 Charlie, directed by debutant Kiranraj K, was the story of the transformational journey a dog and a human have after they come into each other’s life. Their bond, felt Rakshit, would strike a chord with audiences. He tested waters by having premieres of the film for pet and film lovers across the country, much before its actual date with audiences and then waited for word-of-mouth publicity to kick in.

Not only did Rakshit’s strategy work, but it has also given him his first 100-crore movie. Today, 777 Charlie is Rakshit’s biggest hit to date, having amassed Rs 150 crore across theatrical, digital and satellite revenue and is still going strong at the box office. Another smart move that the actor-filmmaker made was that even though he’d sold the film’s Kannada digital and satellite rights ahead of its theatrical release, he put a 48-day clause in, allowing it enough time for a decent run at the box-office.

The Kannada version of 777 Charlie had been picked up by Colors Kannada and Voot Select, in a multi-film deal with Rakshit’s Paramvah Studios. When Rakshit announced the 48-day clause for its streaming date, we’d told you that 777 Charlie could be expected by the end of July or early August at the latest and we were right. 777 Charlie is set for a July 29 streaming date on Voot Select. It is unclear at the moment if Amazon Prime, which has the rights for the film in other languages, will follow suit on the same day, but we will keep you posted as soon as we hear more on this.

Produced by Paramvah Studios, 777 Charlie was released on June 10 in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. The film also stars Raj B Shetty, Sangeetha Sringeri and Bobby Simha in pivotal roles.
