The 70th National Film Awards were announced by the Government of India. The Best Kannada Film award has been given to KGF: Chapter 2, which stars Yash in the lead role. The film is directed by Prashanth Neel.

KGF- Chapter 2 won the Best Kannada Film Award at the 70th National Film Awards which was announced on Friday. Apart from this, stunt coordinator duo Anbariv also bagged the award for Best Stunt Choreography. The film is written and directed by filmmaker Prashanth Neel and stars actor Yash in the lead role. The film is a period-action drama, with the first part released in 2018.

The film features an ensemble cast including Yash Gowda, Srinidhi Shetty, Vasishta N. Simha, Ramachandra Raju, Archana Jois, Anant Nag, Achyuth Kumar, Malavika Avinash, T. S. Nagabharana and B. Suresha. Both the parts are available for streaming on Prime Video.

KGF film franchise is bankrolled by production banner Hombale Films. KGF films became a pan-Indian phenomena after it came out as one of the most successful commercial films. The film also gave actor Yash much-needed recognition, who soon turned out to be one of the busiest actors from the south film industry.

Reportedly, a third part is in the making, KGF 3. However, no new updates about the film have surfaced recently. KGF revolves around Rocky, the protagonist, who rises from the ashes with the sole intention to garner power and fame. Soon, he becomes the kingpin of the gold mafia in Bombay.

Bhuvan Gowda handled the cinematography and Srikanth Gowda edited the film. Composer Ravi Basrur scored the film. It is to be noted that at the 66th National Film Awards, KGF- Chapter 1 won two awards for Stunt Choreography and Best Special Effects.
