7 Game Of Thrones spin offs in making at HBO excluding House Of The Dragon and A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms - George RR Martin Confirms

While we were enjoying the dragons and then leading towards the Dance Of The Dragons, where havoc will be unleashed on the Targaryens, none of us realized that tomorrow was the day we were about to witness the finale of House Of The Dragon Season 2 with episode eight. Yes, there are just eight episodes in this season, and now the wait for the next season will begin as the last episode airs on HBO Max in the West and JioCinema in India. Fans have been living with the feeling for a week now, and there has been no hope because we know the makers will take close to two years to make the next season. But it turns out George RR Martin, the father of this all, has decided to ease our anxiety and tell us that there is more to his iconic tale of Westeros, and a lot more is coming out on the screen from his books.

George RR Martin On Game Of Thrones Spinoffs

There has been a lot said and rumored about all that HBO is planning to do with the gold mine of Westeros content that they have. After wrapping up Game Of Thrones with eight seasons, the makers soon jumped on the prequel show titled House Of The Dragon, which has enjoyed two massive successful seasons. Over the past year, we have heard news about numerous spinoffs in the making but got confirmation on only a couple of them, with even the first look for A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms. It turns out there are 7 of them in the making. Read on to know everything about the same.

As per the latest update from X handle Elio & Linda, George RR Martin, who was at Oxford’s Writer House, has confirmed that there are many Game Of Thrones spinoffs in the making, and he even gave it all a number. Martin revealed that there are seven in the making at various stages of development at HBO, including three live-action shows and four animated projects. What is even more surprising is the fact that this count is excluding House Of The Dragon and A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms. This means we are about to witness nine spinoffs to the Westeros tale in total.

However, we do not have any idea about all the seven shows in development but we might be aware of four of them. We have heard rumors around Aegon The Conqueror, Ten Thousand Ships, The Golden Empire, and Sea Snake. The tweet read, “Per @GRRMspeaking remarks at this talk, there are currently 7 shows in various stages of development, 3 live-action, 4 animated. We knew of 2 (Aegon the Conqueror, Ten Thousand Ships) and 2 (The Golden Empire, Sea Snake), as I recall.”

There Was Also Snow

Meanwhile, there was also a Jon Snow-centric show in the making which would have made the count 10, but recently Kit Harington announced that it is canceled. As per ComicBook, he had said, "And currently, it's not [in development]. Currently, it's off the table because we all couldn't find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough. So, we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being. There may be a time in the future where we return to it, but at the moment, no. It's firmly on the shelf.”
