Jaane Jaan
Jaane Jaan, internationally released as Suspect X, is a mystery thriller film written and directed by Sujoy Ghosh. The movie is an adaptation of Keigo Higashino's 2005 Japanese novel "The Devotion of Suspect X." Starring Kareena Kapoor Khan as a single mother entangled in a murder, the film also features Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma. Produced under the banners 12th Street Entertainment and Northern Lights Films in collaboration with Kross Pictures and Balaji Motion Pictures, it was released on Netflix on September 21, 2023.
Khufiya
Khufiya is a spy thriller film written, produced, and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. Inspired by Amar Bhushan's espionage novel "Escape to Nowhere," the movie features Tabu, Ali Fazal, and Wamiqa Gabbi. It made its debut on Netflix on October 5, 2023. An agent from the Indian intelligence agency R&AW is tasked with locating a mole selling defense secrets in the film. In the midst of the mission, she grapples with the complexities of her dual identity as both a spy and a lover.
Guns and Gulaabs
Guns & Gulaabs is a black comedy crime thriller series available for streaming on Netflix. It is created and directed by Raj & DK, produced by D2R Films in collaboration with Netflix. The series features Rajkummar Rao, Dulquer Salmaan, Adarsh Gourav, Goutam Sharma, Gourav Sharma, Sanchay Goswami, and Gulshan Devaiah. It made its debut on Netflix on August 18, 2023. The storyline is set in the crime-ridden world of the 90s, exploring the intertwining tales of love and innocence with a touch of humor and romance.
Bloody Daddy
Bloody Daddy is an Indian Hindi-language action thriller film from 2023, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, who co-wrote the script with Aditya Basu and Siddharth–Garima. Produced by Jio Studios, the movie stars Shahid Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, Diana Penty, Ronit Roy, Rajeev Khandelwal, Ankur Bhatia, and Vivan Bhatena. This film is an adaptation of the 2011 French movie "Sleepless Night," with a prior Indian remake in Tamil titled "Thoongaa Vanam" (2015), starring Kamal Haasan.
Released for free on June 9, 2023, on JioCinema, the plot revolves around Sumair Azad (Shahid Kapoor), an NCB officer, and his deputy Jagadish Prasad, alias Jaggi. Together, they disrupt a drug deal in Gurgaon, leading to the drug lord Sikandar (Ronit Roy) kidnapping Sumair's son Atharva in exchange for the bag of cocaine.
Dahaad
Dahaad is a Hindi-language web series in the police procedural crime thriller genre. It is created by Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar, directed by Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi, and features Sonakshi Sinha, Gulshan Devaiah, Vijay Varma, and Sohum Shah in prominent roles. Drawing inspiration from Mohan Kumar, aka Cyanide Mohan, a notorious serial killer targeting women seeking marriage, the series was released on Amazon Prime Video on May 12, 2023.
The Night Manager Season 2
The Night Manager in Hindi is a crime thriller television series created by Sandeep Modi, serving as an adaptation of the British series of the same name from 2016, which was based on John Le Carre's novel. The cast includes Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sobhita Dhulipala, with supporting roles played by Tillotama Shome, Ravi Behl, and Saswata Chatterjee. In its second part, The Night Manager gains momentum compared to the initial slow plot development, maintaining its status as a serviceable thriller.
Kohrra
In 2023, Netflix bought Kohrra, a crime thriller police procedural series created by Sudip Sharma and directed by Randeep Jha. Produced by Clean Slate Films, owned by Anushka Sharma's brother Karnesh Ssharma, in collaboration with Netflix, the series features a stellar cast including Survinder Vicky, Barun Sobti, Harleen Sethi, Saurav Khurana, Rachel Shelley, and Manish Chaudhary. Kohrra made its debut on Netflix on July 15, 2023.
The storyline revolves around the mysterious death of a bridegroom just days before his wedding. Will the police unravel the secrets and find the murderer?
