Today, the most prestigious 69th National Film Awards 2023 were announced. As the tradition goes, the awards were announced for films across all languages in India. Amongst the many awards, the one award and the award winner that really stood out was that of Pankaj Tripathi. Just a few days back, the stellar actor’s 99-year-old father had breathed his last. Pankaj Tripathi, who was shooting for a film, rushed to attend to his father.
Today, Pankaj Tripathi’s name was announced as the winner of the ‘Best Supporting Actor award’ at the 69th National Film Awards. Pankaj Tripathi was given the award for his superlative role in the film ‘Mimi’ which starred Kriti Sanon in the titular role. In a statement issued to the media by his representatives, Pankaj Tripathi said, “This is unfortunately a period of loss and grieving for me. If Babuji was around, he would have been really happy for me. When I first got the National award mention, he was very proud and pleased. This National Award I dedicate to him and his spirit. I’m who I’m today because of him. I’m in loss of words due to this time but I’m happy and grateful to the team. Kriti also has won the Best Actress, so a huge congratulations to her”.
As for the other awards at the ‘69th National Film Awards’, while Allu Arjun bagged the ‘Best Actor’ award for his path breaking role in the pan-India film ‘Pushpa’, the ‘Best Actress’ awards was shared by Alia Bhatt for her dynamic performance in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and Kriti Sanon for her role in ‘Mimi’. While Pankaj Tripathi won the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ award for the film ‘Mimi’, it was Pallavi Joshi who won the prestigious national award for ‘Best Supporting Actress’ for her role in ‘The Kashmir Files’.
