The Ulaganayagan's first movie Kalathur Kannamma released 63 years ago

Fans of Kamal Haasan, who have been waiting for a huge hit from their matinee idol, were over the moon when the Ulaganayagan delivered a true blue blockbuster in the form of Vikram last year. The movie went on to become the highest grossing movie in Tamil Nadu.

He is now busy with Shankar's Indian 2 which is expected to hit the screens in early 2024. The admirers of the veteran actor now have one more reason to rejoice as today is a special day for them. His first movie Kalathur Kannamma celebrates its 63rd anniversary today.
Kamal's hardcore fans started trending #64YearsOfKamalism on Twitter with various stills and videos from the actor-filmmaker's movies. Later, a few celebs from Tamil cinema, too, joined them in honouring the legend's achievement. Lokesh Kanagaraj, a self-proclaimed Kamal fan and director of Vikram, tweeted, "Ever grateful to @ikamalhaasan sir, for bracing the world with 64 years of unparalleled work! We’re forever indebted to you aandavarey (sic)."
Karthik Subbaraj wrote "64 years of Pure Passion & Inspiration" while Silambarasan, who is currently acting in a project under Kamal's production, posted, "Celebrating 64 Years of #Ulaganayagan @ikamalhaasan’s cult. Here's to forever being a fan of your work sir! (sic)."
The proud daughter Shruti Haasan went on to describe her father's achievement as "The Unparalleled Emperor for 6 decades is stepping into his 64th year in Cinema" (sic)." Vijay Sethupathi, who played the antagonist opposite Kamal in Vikram, is another celeb from Kollywood, who wished the senior actor on his special day.

He will be teaming up with H Vinoth and Mani Ratnam next for KH 233 and KH 234 respectively. Both projects will be bankrolled by Kamal himself.
