The highlight of the day today is the 51st International Emmy Awards, that took place in New York City, celebrating the art and caliber of artists from across the globe. India had a massive footprint on the prestigious night as Vir Das, Shefali Shah, Jim Sarbh, and Ekta Kapoor walked the red carpet. The latter has achieved one of the most significant feats in her career now as she has received the International Emmy Directorate Award, becoming the first Indian to ever receive it.

Ekta Kapoor dressed in a bright orange dress, walked up the dais held the golden trophy in her hands and made India proud. The Indian television czarina, in her speech, took the moment to thank India, her motherland, for being her inspiration. Chef Vikas Khanna, who was also one of the attendees, shared a video of Ekta’s award acceptance speech that was all kinds of motivational.

As per the video shared by Vikas, Ekta Kapoor, in her acceptance speech at the 51st International Emmy Awards , said, “I would like to thank my mother, who I started this company with from my dad’s garage. Thank you, Thank you India, because in you I find the reflection of me. You have been pulled, pushed, conquered, and ruled, and as you found your freedom you found your voice. A few decades later today we stand tall, not needing anyone’s validation as the fifth largest economy. This award is for you India, and all the Indians here. We are few, but we are enough. This is for your India; in your history, I find my stories, in your strength, I find my writ, to my motherland...”

The TV czarina also shared a video of the trophy on her official Instagram handle and wrote, “India I’m bringing home YOUR Emmy @iemmys,” with it. Many of her peers from the industry are showering her with all the love and admiration for her big victory. Many of her followers have also lined up to congratulate the Balaji head honcho.

Meanwhile, Ekta Kapoor wasn’t the only one to make a dent at the IntetnaEmmy Awards. Vir Das also made India proud as he won an International Emmy for Best Comedy for his Netflix comedy. Our heartiest congratulations to both the winners. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more on this and everything else from the realm of streaming and films.
