It's been five years since Vishnu Vishal's psychological thriller Ratsasan (2018) hit screens. The film, which was helmed by director Ram Kumar, became a smashing success at the box office and emerged as a benchmark for all future films based on serial killers.

Vishnu Vishal gets nostalgic
As the film clocked five years, the actor went down memory lane along with a surprise announcement about his next with the same director. His post read, "#5YearsOfRatsasan The love is never ending...Next one loading soon with @dir_ramkumar What a brilliant film maker he is I thot the third one with him after Mundaasupatti and Ratsasan will be easier for me to perform as we understand each other better but he surprises me with his fresh vision every single time and pushes me beyond my capabilities Lucky to be working with such talented directors (sic)."

Ratsasan is considered as one of the career-best performances of Vishnu Vishal. Even today, the film is known for its spine-chilling and heart-in-the-mouth moments. Ratsasan has also been billed as one of the ultimate thrillers in the annals of Tamil cinema.

Star cast and crew
The star cast comprises Vishnu Vishal, Saravanan, Amala Paul, Kaali Venkat, Abhirami, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, Munishkanth, Ramdoss, Susan George, Sangili Murugan to name a few. The music by Ghibran was considered one of the highlights of the film and its haunting music continues to be the most listened to tunes even today. Cinematography is by PV Shankar and editing is by San Lokesh. Ratsasan is bankrolled by Axess Film Factory.

Ratsasan gets remakes
The film was later remade in Telugu as Rakshasudu with Bellamkonda Srinivas and Anupama Parameswaran in the lead. Later, the film got a Hindi remake titled Cuttputli, which starred Akshay Kumar and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead. However, the Hindi version tanked at the box office.
