While Hollywood gave us some of the most precious movies, heartwarming moments, and moving content, nothing comes close to the victory that led to the first Asian woman lifting an Oscar in the Best Actor category at the 95th Academy Awards. Michelle Yeoh wrote history that night by representing her part of the world and bringing attention to the talent it holds. But that doesn't mean this was the first top-notch film featuring Yeoh. Let's call "Everything Everywhere All At Once" just the tip of the iceberg in her filmography.

Michelle now returns to our screen with a Netflix show. "The Brothers Sun" now streams on the streaming giant and has Yeoh playing a very important part. The show follows the life of Charles Sun, a ruthless killer who is a Taipei gangster. Settled in his life, one day his world turns upside down when he is supposed to move back to Los Angeles to protect his mother and brother after his father is killed by a mysterious assassin. Whoever has seen the show has only good things to say about it.

However, if you are a beginner to the school of Michelle Yeoh's talent, we have got you sorted. To show you the impact of her caliber, here are five films that you can watch online before you tune into "The Brothers Sun" as prep for what is to come.

Ying Nan in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)

Available On: Disney+ Hotstar.

Michelle Yeoh’s dedication for representation has been immense. Starting with the most popular of them all, she was a part of "Shang Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings." A Marvel movie where the Asian superhero and his world took center stage. As Ying Nan, Michelle was fierce and everything about her was so mystical. For a woman who has done enough action dramas, it felt like it was all leading to this glorious moment.

Eleanor Young in Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

Available On: Prime Video (on rent) and Jio Cinema

The shade of Michelle Yeoh the world wasn’t prepared for. When she is not carrying a sword or beating men to a pulp with her moves, she is using her gaze as a weapon to intimidate and warn everyone around her. "Crazy Rich Asians" was a nuanced film written on our side of the world rather than being a comment about us. In the hands of a less seasoned actor, Eleanor could be just another evil mother with no layers, but Yeoh took it to another level and you will have to witness it yourself.

Yu Shu Lien in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000)

Available On: Prime Video (on rent).

If you thought "Everything Everywhere All At Once" was the first time Michelle tried her hands at a movie with crazy layering, you certainly haven't seen "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." Not as edged out as the Oscar-winning film, but is a piece of art that stands the test of time. Ang Lee, in his directorial made Yeoh play a part that was in her comfort zone but also away from it. As You Shu Lien she had to bring out emotions while holding a sword in her hand. A film transcending genres and an actor making sure she owns it. They don't make such films anymore.

Insp. Jessica Yang in Police Story 3: Supercop (1992)

Available On: NA

Who could have thought Jackie Chan’s "Supercop" would approach Michelle Yeoh’s Jessica to help him bust a syndicate and capture a drug lord? This is the movie where most of the world is introduced to the talent of Yeoh. A stunt that surfaces on the internet quite sometimes where she rides a bike on the moving train, and one where she jumps from a truck in a convertible were all performed by Yeoh herself with nobody double involved. Crazy!

Evelyn Wang in Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)

Available On: Sony LIV

What is happiness? Would we be content if we were born in a different place and time? What would it be if we were just rocks in a desert? With Evelyn Wang, the movie explores the idea of finding a place of perfection in different dimensions. She travels time and experiences the most bizarre to only find out that the life she has and the problems she is facing can all be sorted if not looked at as life-threatening evils. "Everything Everywhere All At Once" is an experience one must watch and not just read about.

"The Brothers Sun" is now streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more content like this and everything else from the world of streaming and films
