Sweet Kaaram Coffee:
Judging from the trailer, this new series seems like a memorable feel-good drama. The narrative revolves around the road trip undertaken by three generations of women. The trio belong to the same family and feel neglected and suffocated by the mistreatment meted out to them by men in their lives. Driven by a strong urge to take a break from the unbearable realities of their lives, the three set out on a road trip, seemingly low on cash and car fuel. However, through the journey, the three women rediscover themselves, promising us loads of feel-good moments. The series is directed by Bejoy Nambiar, Krishna Marimuthu, and Swathi Raghuraaman and it stars Lakshmi, Madhoo, and Santhy.
Sweet Kaaram Coffee debuts on Prime Video on July 6.
Babylon:
Filmmaker Damien Chazelle is one of the most influential voices in the world of cinema today. His young but incredible filmography includes masterpieces like Whiplash and La La Land. With each movie, Damien has proved that his talents are not tied to any particular genre. From biopics to musicals to period dramas, Damien has established himself as the most talented and innovative filmmaker of his generation. And his last outing Babylon is no exception. Boasting an all-star cast, including an exceptional Margot Robbie and a wonderful Brad Pitt, the film will transport you to a tumultuous period in Hollywood, when the biggest talents of the time were rendered irrelevant with the technological transformation. The film is at once a comedy of excess and devastating tragedy about the unforgiving nature of show business.
Babylon is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Good Night:
Good Night is a heartfelt and relatable film that centres around the life of Mohan, portrayed convincingly by K Manikandan. Set in the bustling city of Chennai, the movie explores the struggles of an ordinary man working a typical 9-to-5 job. From the trailer, it's evident that Mohan leads a content life, surrounded by a loving family and enjoying the security of a steady paycheck. However, an unexpected obstacle arises when his snoring troubles begin to jeopardize everything he holds dear. What makes Good Night intriguing is its ability to take a seemingly minor issue like snoring and magnify its impact on the protagonist's life. The film delves into the consequences of this seemingly trivial problem, highlighting how it can disrupt relationships, create sleepless nights, and ultimately threaten the stability Mohan cherishes. By exploring this relatable predicament, the movie captures the audience's empathy and draws them into Mohan's struggle.
Good Night is streaming on Disney+Hotstar on July 3.
Farhana:
Farhana, helmed by Nelson Venkatesan, promises to be a compelling social thriller. Backed by Dream Warrior Pictures, the film stars Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead role. The narrative revolves around Farhana, a Muslim woman hailing from a deeply conservative family. Her life takes an unforeseen twist when she becomes entangled with a sex chat call centre and makes a fateful judgmental mistake. This pivotal incident sets off a chain of events that challenges Farhana's beliefs, exposes societal prejudices, and delves into the consequences of her choices. The film also stars Selvaraghavan, Aishwarya Dutta, Jithan Ramesh, and Anumol.
Farhana debuts on SonyLIV on July 7.
