Malayalam cinema has added several notable titles such as Rekhachithram and Sookshmadarshini to its rich repertoire as January 2025 draws to a close. February 2025 too looks promising with Basil Joseph-starrer Ponman and Vineeth Sreenivasan's Oru Jaathi Jathakam marked for theatrical release, while Tovino Thomas Identity keeps the OTT world buzzing. Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule has also landed in digital space and Malayalam audiences can watch the dubbed version online. Tovino Thomas' stylish action-thriller Identity is the big Malayalam OTT release of the week. Trisha Krishnan and Vinay Rai also join the Malayalam star in this movie, directed by Akhil Paul and Anas Khan. The film is especially noted for its unexpected twists, terrific car chases, and high-octane action sequences. The technically brilliant film has strived to raise the bar for action thrillers in Malayalam. Tovino Thomas' fans should definitely watch Identity for the star’s performance and the action sequences.

Basil Joseph is once again back in the theatres after Pravinkoodu Shaapu with Soubin Shahir, and Chemban Vinod earlier this month. Ponman revolves around Ajesh, who lends gold for the marriage of Steffi, and now has to get it back at any cost. Ponman was already released in theatres on January 30, 2025, and has mainly garnered good reviews for the lead actors’ performances. Lijomol Jose, best known for her performance in Suriya-starrer Jai Bhim, and Sajin Gopu of Aavesham play the other central characters in the film. As Basil Joseph seldom disappoints his fans, you should consider booking your tickets for Ponman this weekend.

Oru Jaathi Jathakam, starring Vineeth Sreenivasan, is finally releasing in theatres on January 31, 2025. The film was earlier set to release for Onam 2024 but got postponed. Directed by M Mohanan, the film follows its protagonist as he is desperately looking for a partner to settle down in marriage. Nikhila Vimal, Isha Talwar, Babu Antony, PP Kunhikrishnan, Mridul Nair, and Sayanora Philip are also part of this movie, touted to be a romantic comedy. The film marks Vineeth Sreenivasan’s reunion with Aravindante Adhithikal director M Mohanan and actress Nikhila Vimal.
