It's been 30 years since Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar appeared together for the first time in a film. Yes, Suhaag, the Kuku Kohli-directed 1994 action film, has completed three decades of its release. The film featured Karisma Kapoor and Nagma as the female leads and was a smashing success for Bollywood. Suhaag plot overview

Suhaag follows the friendship of Ajay Sharma and Raj Sinha, two buddies from college. After finishing college, they finally uncover their shared background and unravel the biggest mystery of their lives. Defying their evil history and oppressors, they unite as one. Topics covered in this dramatic film include love, betrayal, and friendship.

Raj is deeply infatuated with Madhu; Ajay harbors strong feelings for Pooja, and the two maintain a close friendship. While Raj stays with his wealthy uncle, who acts as a father figure to him, Ajay resides with his mother in Bombay after she died away. The two friends cherish their close friendship, and Raj holds Ajay's mother in the highest regard. Ajay learns his true identity as Ajay Malhotra after graduating from college when his uncle, Raj, asks him to carry his diploma in order to secure a job in Canada. Ajay learns later on that his father is alive and has been framed for stealing organs from a hospital; he is currently serving time in prison. After Ajay presses the issue, he learns that the owner of the hospital, Rai Bahadur, is responsible for his father's suffering. In their shared quest to reunite Ajay with his father, Raj and Ajay confront Rai Bahadur. Little do they know, Raj's father is also complicit in this plot. Will Ajay hold Raj responsible for anything, and how long will their lasting friendship endure after this revelation?

In the action film, Akshay Kumar plays the role of Raj Sinha, Ajay Devgn plays the role of Ajay Malhotra, Karisma Kapoor plays the role of Pooja, Nagma plays the role of Madhu, Aruna Irani plays the role of Asha Malhotra, Dalip Tahil plays the role of Dr. Sinha, Suresh Oberoi plays the role of Rai Bahadur, Adi Irani plays the role of Dr. Jagdish, Romesh Sharma as Dr. Ravi Malhotra, Tiku Talsania is the publisher, Gufi Paintal is Raj's maternal uncle, and Jack Gaud is the villain in the film.

Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn's subsequent collaborations

Having parted ways after Suhaag, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan reunited for the second time in a decade in Khakee. They continued their joint appearances later in Insaan (2005) and the Cop Universe films Sooryavanshi (2021) and Singham Again (2024), directed by Rohit Shetty.

Box Office India reports that the successful film Suhaag made ₹12.14 crore. In terms of box office receipts, it ranked seventh among Bollywood films in 1994.
