Filmmaker Hansal Mehta's web series, Scam 1992, is one of the finest OTT shows ever made. Back in 2020, on October 9, Mehta's series premiered on SonyLIV. Featuring Pratik Gandhi in the lead role, Scam 1992 was based on the 1992 Indian stock market scam involving Harshad Mehta. Today, the show has completed 3 years since its digital release.
On this occasion, Hansal penned a heartfelt note about everything that went into the making of Scam 1992. He also mentioned how not many platforms showed faith in his project.

As his show Scam 1992 clocked 3 years, Hansal Mehta shared a long note on his official X account.
The filmmaker wrote, "And then our lives changed… 3 years of Scam1992. The year was 2017. I was not so sure about what I was doing with my life as a filmmaker. Ideas were running out, I was plagued by self-doubt and my mental as well as physical health was low. nairsameer had just begun the ApplauseSocial journey. He offered me this story. I jumped at it and latched on as if I’d found the oxygen I needed to live (sic)."
A part of his note also read, "Not many platforms showed faith in the show - after all this show had it all. New actors, a struggling director, and a story about a financial scam - ingredients that went totally against formula (sic)."

Hansal Mehta's work front
Meanwhile, on the work front, Hansal's last OTT release was Scam 2003. The series premiered on the same streaming platform as Scam 1992. This time around, the show was helmed by Tushar Hiranandani while Mehta served as the co-director.
The web show featured Gagan Dev Riar essaying the role of Abdul Karim Telgi. Kirandeep Kaur, Talat Aziz, and Mukesh Tiwari also formed the series' star cast.
