Anupam Kher, Sameer Chitre, and Tiku Talsania played supporting roles, and Deepak Tijori made a cameo appearance. The 1934 Hollywood movie It Happened One Night, starring Claudette Colbert and Clark Gable, influenced the plot of Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin.

However, her father, Anupam Kher, is opposed to the marriage since he thinks Deepak is only interested in his property and doesn't cherish his daughter. Consequently, Pooja bolts, boarding a bus to Bangalore, the location where Deepak is filming at the moment. Aamir Khan portrays Raghu Jetley, a journalist on the verge of job loss, whom Pooja encounters. He recognises Pooja in the newspaper's missing ad and promises to help her find Deepak in exchange for an exclusive report about her love life. Following a recent theft of her belongings and money, Pooja agrees.

In an effort to find Pooja, her father hired two private investigators, and from this point on, the two embark on a perilous trip full of mistakes, adventures, and pretending. They try to keep their work arrangements and their love for each other separate, but they can't help but feel a growing attraction. What happens next reveals the outcome of this event.
