Gupt, starring Bobby Deol, Kajol and Manisha Koirala, recently celebrated 25 years of its release. The film, directed by Rajiv Rai, was released in theatres on July 4, 1997. Fans remember the movie for its climax and the peppy soundtracks.
Bobby recently spoke to Bollywood Hungama about his iconic single Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela from the film. He described how he spent the entire day practising the song.
Udit Narayan crooned Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela, which was created by Viju Shah. Bobby praised the song and also how this is one of the greatest albums Viju has released yet. He also wanted to continue working with Rajiv Rai after the film.
While talking about the subject, the actor stated “I remember when I was shooting that song ‘Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela,’ it was set up in Mehboob studio only. I remember dancing with Chinni Prakash ji, and meri pata hai kya haalat hoti thi unn dino, main itni rehearsal karta tha ki meri pant bheeng jaati thi sweat se, jaise kisi ne paani phenka ho (I used to rehearse so much for that song that my pants used to be drenched in sweat by the time I was done for the day, like someone had thrown some water over it).”
Bobby goes on to explain how he intended to put the finest dance moves for the song as well as how the film's director marketed the songs. According to him, the tracks have always been on the channels on the day the songs were released.
Indian Express also revealed a fascinating aspect of the thriller. According to them, the lead actress, Kajol, who was one of the greatest actors at the time, was the one that was nominated inside the antagonist category for the Filmfare award, which she eventually won.
Gupt is available to stream on ZEE5.
