It has been 23 years since Taal hit the silver screens. The 1999 film had opened to rave reviews from audiences and critics alike not just in the country, but overseas as well. Anil Kapoor starred in a pivotal role in the film, which seemed to have played an important part in his career.

The actor took to his social media to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of Taal, sharing a few stills from the film which featured him and his co-star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. In the caption of the post, Anil spoke of how thankful he was to have been a part of the ‘iconic’ film. Saying how he was destined to be a part of Taal, the actor revealed that his part in the film had been initially offered to Govinda.

Anil revealed how he got his role in Slumdog Millionaire due to Taal. Slumdog Millionaire’s director, Danny Boyle had offered Anil the role in the Hollywood film after seeing the latter’s performance in Taal.

In the post, Anil also thanked Taal’s director Subhash Ghai for his love and support. The duo have collaborated on four films - Meri Jung(1985), Yuvvraaj(), Ram Lakhan(1989) and Taal, which Anil referred to as ‘milestone films’ in his career.

In addition to Anil, Taal also starred Akshaye Khanna, Amrish Puri and Alok Nath in pivotal roles. The film is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video and ZEE5.

Meanwhile, Anil was last seen in the Raj Mehta directorial Jug Jugg Jeeyo, which also starred Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Neetu Kapoor, Prajakta Koli and Maniesh Paul in prominent roles. The actor’s upcoming releases include Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone’s Fighter, Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna’s Animal, and the sequel to No Entry.
