Aanandham, the 2001 Tamil film written and directed by filmmaker N Lingusamy in his directorial debut, has completed 23 years since its release. The film hit theatres on May 25, 2001, and is a family drama featuring a star ensemble cast, including actors Mammootty, Murali, Abbas, Devayani, Rambha, Sneha, Delhi Ganesh and Srividya, among others. Aanandham revolves around a joint family with four sons who live along with their wives and parents. While the eldest son is played by Mammootty who works hard and raises his three brothers, problems begin to arise when the second eldest daughter-in-law starts to rebel against the family for her individualistic choices. While Devyani played the eldest daughter-in-law, Rambha and Murali played the second eldest couple in the family.
Aanandham was bankrolled by RB Choudary under the banner Super Good Films and had SA Rajukumar scoring the music. Arthur A Wilson wielded the camera and V Jaishanker edited the film.

The film also won awards, including two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards - Third Best Film and Best Actress for Sneha. Aanandham also became one of the early successes of Mammootty in Tamil cinema.
The film was eventually remade in Telugu as Sankranti, starring actors Venkatesh, Srikanth, Siva Balaji, Sharwanand, Sneha, Sangeetha, Aarthi Agarwal, Rathi, Sharada and Chandra Mohan, with filmmaker Muppalaneni Shiva helming it.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Lingusamy last directed the 2022 Tamil-Telugu bilingual film The Warriorr starring actors Ram Pothineni and Aadhi Pinisetty among others.
