It's been 21 years since we saw Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Lara Dutta enter the world of Bollywood and slay in their own unique way. Yes, three years after winning Miss World 2000 and Miss Universe 2000, respectively, the former beauty queens made their Bollywood debut opposite Akshay Kumar in Andaaz. Raj Kanwar's romantic musical film, which featured a love triangle among the leading stars, received praise for its soundtrack.

In the film, after Raj's (Akshay's) beloved Kajal (Lara) marries another guy, he uproots his ambitious life and relocates to Cape Town. He gives in to his family's demands and agrees to marry Jiya (Priyanka). When he finds out that Kajal, Jiya's sister-in-law, is a widow, he gets a shock of his life.
Priyanka and Lara's careers got off to a good start with Andaaz. As time went on, Lara established herself as a respected actor in Bollywood. Priyanka would go on to become a major player in Indian cinema and a household name in Bollywood, becoming among the highest-paid female actors in the process. She would subsequently become famous all over the world after entering the world of Hollywood for over a decade.
Akshay and Priyanka's hit pairing
Following the success of Andaaz, the pairing of Akshay and Priyanka was equally well-received and fruitful. They went on to star in three more films together, namely Aitraaz (2004), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), and Waqt: The Race Against Time (2005). Every single one of their joint projects was a financial smash. It's been almost two decades, and many directors tried to reunite the duo after the release of their final picture together, but none of their plans ever came to fruition.
Both Priyanka and Lara received Best Newcomer awards for their debut vehicle at the major award ceremonies.
