Premium2018 star Tovino Thomas’ action thriller Identity to have a pan-Indian release: Akhil Paul
Identity, which also has Madonna Sebastian, is set to go on floors in September 2023

Post the success of Minnal Murali and now 2018 across the country, Malayalam star Tovino Thomas’ upcoming movies will be getting pan-Indian releases. The latest to join the list is Forensic directors Akhil Paul and Anas Khan’s Identity.
In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, Akhil, who has also co-written the screenplay with Anas, tells us, “We are planning to begin the shoot by September this year. Tovino’s almost done with the shoot of Anveshippin Kandethum and will next begin with Nadikar Thilakam. Our film will be after that. The initial plan was to kick-start the shoot by April this year, but Ajayante Randam Moshanam took more time than expected. We are currently finalising the dates of the other actors in the film.”
The team had earlier announced the movie, with Madonna Sebastian as the female lead. “The plan right now is to release Identity in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi simultaneously. We have actors from all these industries too and are planning it on a big scale. After 2018, cinematographer Akhil George and editor Chaman Chakko will be working again in this movie,” Akhil tells us.
Ask him about the genre of the movie and he says, “A lot of people have asked if Identity is the sequel of Forensic; it’s not. It’s an action thriller and we are in discussions with a foreign stunt choreographer to be part of the movie. We have allotted about 25 days from the total 90 days of shoot for the action sequences. Tovino is also preparing for those scenes.”
Does Tovino essay the role of police officer? “It’s not a police investigative thriller at all. It has an investigative track but that’s led by another character,” Akhil says. Identity is produced by Ragam Movies in association with Century Films.
Meanwhile, Tovino’s latest release 2018 is all set to begin streaming on Sony LIV and OTTplay Premium from June 7. His next release will be Ajayante Randam Moshanam, which will also get a pan-Indian release. The film, helmed by Jithin Lal, has Tovino essaying a triple role.
