On February 17, 2006, two Kannada films released in theatres. One was Suntaragaali, with Challenging Star Darshan in the lead, and the other was My Autograph, headlined by Kiccha Sudeep. A romantic drama, My Autograph marked Sudeep’s directorial debut. The film was the Kannada remake of the Tamil flick Autograph by Cheran and was a superhit at the box office.

My Autograph, which Sudeep produced as well, had the actor as a successful advertising professional, who travels to his hometown to invite friends – past and present – and family to his upcoming wedding. During this journey, he meets his childhood crush, as well as a beloved from his college days, all of whom promise to join him on his special day.

The film starred Sridevika, Deepu, Rashmika Desai and Meena in pivotal roles. For the Kannada version, Sudeep retained the original music compositions by Bharadwaj, but got Rajesh Ramanathan to re-do the background score.

Taking to Twitter about the anniversary of his directorial debut, Sudeep tweeted, “17 years of me trying out my hands as a director. It's always been a great feeling to be on a maker's chair. I thank every actor, technician, production team, support staff, and everyone on set who stood by me.”

Fans quickly responded, calling My Autograph an evergreen film that is relevant for the youth today as well, with several reminiscing about the first time they watched it and the impact it had on them. Many also slipped in questions about the actor-filmmaker’s much-awaited next, #Kiccha46, and wondered when he will return to filmmaking.

For the next few weeks, though, Sudeep is going to be very busy playing cricket. On February 18, he joins the Karnataka Bulldozers team in the latest season of the Celebrity Cricket League. Then, on February 24 and 25 he will lead the charge at the Kannada Chalanachitra Cup, a two-day sportainment event to be held in Bengaluru, after which he will return to join the Bulldozers for the remaining of the CCL matches.
