It's 15 years since Pushkar and Gayatri's directorial debut Oram Po hit screens. The film, which revolved around auto rickshaw racing, was a black comedy starring Arya and Pooja in the lead, along with Lal and John Vijay. The directors, whose last outing was Amazon Prime Video's Suzhal, reminisced the first day first show of the film and shared on their social media handle,"It's 15 years of #OramPo We watched the fdfs at Devi Theatre Chennai with our hearts fluttering! Nothing beats that magic and terror! @arya_offl you are the best thing that can happen to first time filmmakers!! https://youtu.be/eDLUp6rALgc."
They also thanked everyone who was part of the film. "A warm hug to all those who joined us on that mad ride! @dhilipaction @halithashameem @gvprakash #APFilmGarden #Pooja #Lal #Jagan #JohnVijay @nirav_dop (sic)."
Sillu Karuppatti director Halitha Shameen, too, thanked the duo for the opportunity. "15 years of Orampo! The film was a mad ride but joining my directors made my career a smooth ride! Thank you ma'am and sir! And it was @arya_offl who introduced me to them. Ever grateful! (sic)."
Oram Po was initially titled Auto and it is said that Pushkar and Gayatri came to know about the concept of auto racing from an auto driver. Arya spent a lot of time with auto drivers to get into the skin of the character. His chemistry with Pooja, with whom he had earlier worked in Jeeva's multi-starrer Ullam Ketkume was much talked about.
The film not only marked the debut of John Vijay as an actor, but also the debut of popular Bollywood singer Alka Yagnik with the song Idhu Enna Maayam. While music was by GV Prakash Kumar, cinematography was by Nirav Shah and editing by Anthony. Oram Po also had Thiagarajan Kumararaja as the dialogue writer and Halitha Shameem as an assistant director.
