Farhan Akhtar is currently working on his upcoming film, 120 Bahadur. The film is based on the life of the late Major Shaitan Singh Bhati. He was a Param Vir Chakra awardee, who played an important role in the Battle of Rezang La during the Sino-India War (1962). On the occasion of Army Day 2025, Farhan spoke about his special association with the Army through his film. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Akhtar spoke about his directorial Lakshya and upcoming film, 120 Bahadur.
Speaking with the publication, Farhan Akhtar shared that he learned a lot about the Army when he made Hrithik Roshan-starrer Lakshya. He realized that the Army is like a world in itself with its discipline and protocols.
Akhtar further mentioned that not all films on the Army are made with their clearance. "However, certain films require the Army’s blessings. Lakshya was that, and now, 120 Bahadur. They ask questions when you reach out to them, and you should have answers. It’s their job to understand why you want to make that film. They should be comfortable," he said.
The filmmaker/actor added that wearing the Army uniform on the screen is a matter of pride. According to Farhan, there is a sense of responsibility and one feels honored to wear it. He believes wearing the uniform changes one's body language, how they stand and conduct themselves.
Meanwhile, Farhan Akhtar made an official announcement about his film 120 Bahadur on September 4, 2024. He dropped the first glimpse of the project on his social media handle. While sharing the same, Akhtar mentioned, "What they accomplished will never be forgotten. It is an absolute privilege to bring you the story of Maj Shaitan Singh Bhati PVC and the soldiers of Charlie company, 13 Kumaon regiment (sic)."
