Vinay Rajkumar’s release tomorrow, 10, is only his third film ever and comes a good four years after his last, Ananthu vs Nushrat. The film, which is the directorial debut of Kirik Party cinematographer Karm Chawla has Vinay playing a featherweight boxer from an underprivileged background and focuses on the pitfalls of pursuing a career in the sport.
Speaking to OTTplay, Vinay had said that Karm shot the film in a single schedule spanning only three months, but for the actor, working on 10 was a nine-month experience. “I spent six months in training for the role as I had to get in shape and work on my stamina to play a boxer of that category. It was a combination of intense workouts and diets. I had to maintain a 65-70kg frame, so the workouts were tailored more for maintenance rather than body building. There was also a certain diet and a lot of calorie-counting over the months. I used to work out close to 4-5 hours of day. A lot of hard work has gone into the making of 10,” Vinay had told us.
Today, the team gave audiences a glimpse into this preparation that the actor undertook with a making of video. The four-minute video includes interviews with Vinay, director Karm and the trainers about the actor’s training, as well as visuals of the same. According to Karm, the idea was to ensure that at no point the boxing appears fake or larger-than-life. Everything had to be as realistic as possible. For the trainers, the job was to give Vinay a lean and clean physique apt for a featherweight boxer. The amount of time the actor invested on workouts is as good as the training schedule of a professional athlete, reckon the trainers.
