Not many had expected that Kamal Haasan-starrer Vikram which released exactly a year ago would rewrite box office records and end up as the highest grossing movie in Tamil Nadu when the project was announced. It is true that the film had good expectations from the beginning and director Lokesh Kanagaraj has always been a self-confessed fan of the Ulaganayagan.

However, the feat the action drama achieved was beyond everyone's assumption. The promo videos unveiled by the makers were intriguing and Anirudh's first single Pathala Pathala was a peppy track which impressed music lovers.

Just when everyone thought the project is riding on excellent expectations and that the hype can't get bigger, the news of Suriya playing a cameo in it left cinephiles thrilled. Though the team never intended to let the news out, it became a blessing in disguise.

Vikram's promotional tactics were a classic example of how releasing creative promo videos and posters at regular intervals can elevate hype surrounding a project. Kamal Haasan indulged in promotional activities single-handedly by touring several cities in India and abroad, won the hearts of film buffs and became a trendsetter in Kollywood.

One of the surprises in the film was the clever manner in which Lokesh connected Vikram's characters with a few of the ones in his own movie Kaithi. This led to the popularity of what is currently known as LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe) among movie enthusiasts.

Kamal's swashbuckling attitude, Suriya's powerful cameo, effective performances by Fahadh, Vijay Sethupathi and Chemban Vinod, surprise stunt sequence by Vasanthi, Anirudh's pulsating background score, Philomin Raj's thrilling cuts, Girish Gangadharan's stunning visuals and Anbarivu's action choreography complemented by engaging screenplay worked big time for Vikram. Fans have been taking to social media to share memories of their FDFS, posting their favourite stills and videos from the superhit movie.
