Yennai Arindhaal is a Tamil action thriller film that follows DCP Sathyadev IPS, a virtuous policeman who marries the single mother of a girl. Things go awry as Sathya is faced with the tragic loss of his wife which sends his life and profession in a spiral. Now with his step-daughter in tow, Sathya sets out to in a quest for vengeance to find the ones who are responsible for his beloved wife's death. Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, the film is another addition to the filmmaker's acclaimed set of cop thrillers like 2003's Kaakha Kaakha and 2006's Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. Co-written by Gautham Vasudev Menon, Thiagarajan Kumararaja, and Shridhar Raghavan, the film has been produced by A. M. Rathnam and S. Aishwarya under the banners of Shri Sai Raam Creations. Cinematography of the film has been directed by Dan Macarthur and S. R. Kathir, with Anthony serving as the editor. The music of the film has been composed by Harris Jayaraj, who is reuniting with Menon after the chart-topping hits of 2008's Vaaranam Aayiram. The film has garnered much critical acclaim, with the film receiving 5 nominations at the 63rd Filmfare Awards South in categories such as Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Lyricist, and Best Music Director.
