Set against the highly-contested border conflicts in the South Asian subcontinet, this Hindi-language military action film narrativises the story of Major Vihaan Shergill of the Paramilitary Special Forces as he leads a defensive counter-attack after the Indian base in Uri, Kashmir was targeted by insurgent terrorists, Based on real events that took place in 2016, the film was written and directed by Aditya Dhar, produced by Ronnie Screwvala and features performances by Vicky Kaushal, Rohit Sain, Saurabh Chaudhary, Ankit Chaudhary, Govind, Anuj Gautam, Mohit Chaudhary, Abhishek Chaudhary and Praveen Singh in lead roles. The film ,imagined in seven chapters, elaborates on the turn of events in the eleven days of defensive attacks and was majorly shot in Serbia.
Uri: The Surgical Strike was highly-acclaimed for not only its cast performances with special mention to the Vicky Kaushal's protagonist, screenplay, action sequences, sound design, direction and technical aspects, its mature potrayal of patriotism. It went on to become the 29th highest-grossing Indian film ever made along with its commerical box office success. It was also a recipient of various accolades including four National Film Awards in 2019. The original film score and songs were composed and produced by Shashwat Sachdev.
