Uppi 2, a 2015 Indian Kannada-language allegorical thriller, serves as the sequel to the 1999 cult classic, Upendra. Directed and written by Upendra, the film is produced by Priyanka Upendra. The ensemble cast includes Upendra, Kristina Akheeva, Parul Yadav, Sayaji Shinde, Shobaraj, Satyajit, Bank Janardhan, Vaijanath Biradar, and Mimicry Dayanand. Gurukiran takes charge of the soundtrack and background score.
Released on August 14, 2015, coinciding with Indian Independence Day, Uppi 2 received mixed reviews due to its intricate plot and narrative. Nevertheless, it achieved commercial success, completing a 50-day run at the box office. Upendra earned the SIIMA Award for Best Director for his work on the film. The movie was dubbed in Telugu as Upendra 2 and released alongside the Kannada version.
The plot follows Neenu, a content and selfless individual, unburdened by the past or the future. His altruistic nature attracts the attention of Lakshmi, a psychology student who eventually falls in love with him but struggles to pull him out of his selfless world. Simultaneously, a crime boss named Saleem and the police are on Neenu's trail for a substantial property, which leads to a series of misunderstandings and confrontations. As the story unfolds, it becomes apparent that Mandakini's property holds a profound philosophical message about shedding negativity and embracing selflessness and gratitude.
