No one likes to be cheated and especially if the other person becomes successful withholding your hard work. Rosshan Andrrews' work shows a similar case in Udayananu Tharam. This comedy-drama depicts the struggles of an assistant director Udayabhanu played by Mohanlal, who strives to become a director. Udayabhanu's dreams are shattered when his friend, a junior artist, Rajappan Thengummoodu, steals his screenplay and his hard work to become a superstar. This film made huge success beyond imagination and was remade in Tamil as Velli Thirai. The winner of the Kerala State Film Award for two different categories also got remade in Hindi, as Shortkut, which came in the year 2009. Roshan Andrews' comedy-drama, Udayananu Tharam, was rejected twice due to a story about the film industry before he made his debut with this film.
