The Window

Directed by Buddhadeb Dasgupta, Janala is a Bengali drama film released in the year 2009. The film stars Swastika Mukherjee, Indraneil Sengupta, Tapas Paul and Shankar Chakraborty. The storyline of this film revolves around the life of Bimal, performed by Indraneil Sengupta and Meera, performed by Swastika Mukherjee. Bimal visits his childhood school because of nostalgia.He feels bad when he sees that the buildings of his school are in bad condition. The classroom in which he used to sit, especially his corner seat’s window, is broken. He wants to give a charity to school so that the broken window gets repaired but doesn't have sufficient money. He takes money from his fiance’s savings without telling her. As the story continues, we can see how hard Bimal’s life gets, even with his fiance. The movie won an award for the Best Film in 2009 at the 54th Asia Pacific Film Festival.
