Maria is a novice nun, but she is too carefree and jovial. Worried by her lack of discipline, the Abbery sends Maria to train as a governess in retired naval officer Captain Georg von Trapp's villa, along with his seven children. Maria wins over the kids, and together they embark on a musical adventure. The Sound of Music is an English-language musical drama adapted from a 1959 stage musical of the same name. Written by Ernest Lehman, the film is produced and directed by Robert Wise. Julie Andrews, Eleanor Parker, Christopher Plummer, Charmian Carr, Richard Haydn and Peggy Wood play major roles in this film.
