The Silence of the Lambs is a 1991 American English - language film directed by Jonathan Demme. It is a psychological horror film that stars Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, Scott Glenn and Ted Levine. It is based on the 1988 novel that goes by the same name and is written by Thomas Harris. The movie follows the story of Clarice Starling, a young intelligent F.B.I. trainee, who goes to the Baltimore state hospital for the criminally insane. She is sent there to interview an inmate named Dr. Hannibal "the cannibal" Lecter. The cannibal was a brilliant psychiatrist but soon turned into a psychopathic serial killer. She must match upto his dark mind, and trust him to give her a lead for the search of "Buffalo Bill".
