Sheldon Turner wrote the screenplay for and Peter Segal directed the American sports comedy The Longest Yard. Adam Sandler plays a washed-up former professional quarterback who, in exchange for a shorter prison sentence, is forced to put up a football team to play against the guards in this remake of 1974's prison comedy film The Longest Yard. Burt Reynolds, who played Sandler's character in the original, James Cromwell, Chris Rock, Nelly, William Fichtner, and Nelly co-star in the movie released by Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures and Columbia Pictures. The film acquired Chris Rock a BET Comedy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Theatrical Film.
The Longest Yard features hip-hop music from Derrty Ent. Records and Universal Records later featuring on the Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. Music from Creedence Clearwater Revival, Norman Greenbaum, and AC/DC, among others were featured in the movie, as well.
