The Kashmir Files

Kashmir Files is a Hindi drama film narrating the fictional account of Pushker Naath Pandit, a Kashmiri Hindu driven into India during the 1990 exodus. The film alternates present the present grandson of Pushker who stumbles upon the well-kept secret of who is grandfather was, and 35 years ago when Pushker braved alot of odds to carry his family safely to India. As the grandson continues his investigation about Pushker's exile, he unravels the veil of silence over a genocidal episode in Indian history. The film is written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri supplemented by music from Rohit Sharma. The film was a commerical success making it the third highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022. Despite this, the film invited widespread backlash and litigations against the inaccurate and purposefully distorted plotlines that many scholars claimed were concoted and ahistorical. Kashmir Files bagged Best Feature Film on National Integration and Best Supporting Actress at the 69th National Film Awards. The film which was released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada was the only OTT with with an interpretation in the Indian Sign Language.
